Update

These past two weeks have been great for finding historical documents on different subjects. I spent a lot of time in the Maryland Room of the Enoch Pratt library. The library has books, news articles, and documentaries on multiple Colts related issues. I will certainly make a couple trips back there in the future to gather additional information.

Update

Midterm exams made it difficult to get any extensive research completed. I talked to my family members who were in the Baltimore area during the period when the Colts relocated from Baltimore to Indianapolis. They gave me a few good stories about fan reactions to the move of their football team.

Introduction

I am interested in researching the history surrounding the Baltimore Colts leaving the city. This topic is fascinating to me because I am a strong supporter of Baltimore sports. The Baltimore Colts played in one of the greatest NFL games of all-time, had legions of fans in the Baltimore area, and still left Baltimore in the darkness of the night in 1984. Legendary Colts quarterback Johnny Unitas refused to recognize the new Colts franchise for his entire life.
